I have launched this page to keep any followers up to date with my work and upcoming photography work. From time to time I will do an entry into my blog page to keep followers up to date on new images and potential events. Stay tuned for more images in the near future. I am doing a tour of Lofoten -Norway in February 2020 and New Zealand later that year.

2020

In February 2020 I had the privilege of traveling to Lofoten in Norway to experience a very different world than that of Australia. Our tour group spent 7 days photographing beautiful locations, some have been photographed many times, but this was my first time and it was special. I came away from Lofoten with a deep sense of wonder, hoping I had managed to capture some memorable images to share with others. This particular image was captured on our 3rd day at sunrise while driving along side of this body of water outside of Leknes on our way to another location. We all looked out of the van’s fogged up windows and unanimously said STOP! We all clambered out of our van and grabbed our camera gear & tripods, stumbled down the snow covered embankment, set up for some shots as fast as we could. We knew that this scene would not last long, so time was precious. We all managed to get some great images that morning, knowing if we had been 20 minutes earlier or later we would have missed the opportunity. Have a look at the gallery to see more of my images of Lofoten. I hope to get back there to experience more of this beautiful and unspoilt place.

2021

It’s now October 2021, world travel has been placed on pause for nearly 2 years due to the pandemic. Doing landscape photography has been impossible here in NSW Australia since May 2021 due to the movement regulations to inhibit the spread of the virus. The restrictions are about to be lifted and we will soon be able to resume life a little more normal again. There is only so much checking & cleaning of gear you can do, but I’m now ready to get back out there and do some photography. The inability to even go out locally let alone internationally has been hard to cope with but there are more important things in life, such as helping to prevent the deadly virus that has affected thousands of people and caused many deaths along the way.

I’m now planning for some photography trips in 2022. Locally, here in Australia and internationally. The potential destinations are going back to New Zealand in late winter to photograph some of my favorite locations. ICELAND is a place many have been and photographed, but I haven’t been there, so I do hope I can manage to get there in 2022-2023. LOFOTEN is another place I would love to revisit, hopefully I can return to that amazing place again to capture its unique and spectacular landscape.

I’ll update this page when things start to move again.

2024

In my previous post, I said I was planning to travel to ICELAND and again LOFOTEN, unfortunately those plans did not happen for several reasons including the significant flight costs from Australia. I still hope to ge there in the next few years, as the costs settle and time allows.

It is now April 2024, planing is complete and I will travel to New Zealand in August this year. I have been to NZ multiple times over the years but never in WINTER. The locations I will be visiting are on the South Island on the OTAGO region and FIORDLAND. I’ve photographed there but never in the winter light. Hoping for some snow on the Southern Alps, Lindis Pass region and many other opportunities as they arise. I also hope to VLOG the time there and post the experience to my web page with a selection of images I capture along the way.

Planning is always needed but the elements play a large part of how and when images can be captured. This is the unknown part of Landscape photography, where you have to make decisions on the day and even the hour. It adds to the adventure and meaning when you capture an image I want to share.

I hope to be able to share my experience of this adventure in September/October 2024.

Remember, all of the images on my website are available for sale. If you see an image you would like to have a print of and enjoy, please contact me to get a very reasonable quote.

Cheers, Phil
